POWERPOINT about CLASS March 26, 2013
This is a link to my power point final that I had to do for my LRS class last semester. It was my only class that required a PowerPoint presentation.
This is a link to the first “big” paper I had to do in college as a freshman last semester. We had to write letters to the future freshman about what the class was about.
This is a link to a research paper about what career I wanted to go into. I wrote this when I was a senior in high school. It was pretty neat to go back and read it though. I chose this because I scored pretty decently on it.
Biography :) March 23, 2013
My name is Amanda Evans and I am 18 years old. I graduated in 2012 from Valley Heights
Christian Academy in Norwich, NY. I have two brothers and one sister and I have lived in Norwich on a dairy farm for my whole life. I went to Valley Heights since I was four years old and stayed until I graduated. During my high school years, my favorite subjects were English and Math. I really enjoyed my English classes because I understood everything we learned because I had been taught it since I was in 5th grade. My teacher, who normally just lectured us, made it interesting. She was always there if we had any questions and she would stop teaching if she knew we didn’t understand it. I also enjoyed my Math classes because my teacher had a certain way of teaching that made us understand pretty much everything she taught. She also was very willing to help us if we needed it. She made math fun, which can be hard to do.
I had always wanted to be an elementary school teacher since I was little and after I graduated, I got to start pursuing my career at Broome Community College. I chose to attend Broome because I wanted to stay close to home and Broome was close enough for me. I was/am very excited to start my early childhood classes and my education classes. As I said before, I have lived on a dairy farm for my whole life, which means most of my work experience is farming. My dad’s family has been in farming for many years, as well, so I also help my uncle’s on their farms. I also worked for my family’s action business. I have also done little jobs such as babysitting here and there. My work experience really had nothing to do with why I chose Broome for school. Farming is a big reason why I chose to become a teacher. I have detested farming for years and it really drove me to want to be in a career I enjoy.
Throughout high school, I played soccer and basketball. I decided not to play sports after high school because I really wanted to focus on my major and focus on school. I think that if I had decided to play sports at Broome, it definitely would have been different than when I played in high school because my high school’s league was pretty easy and college sports tend to be harder.
I hope that I will be able to learn a lot from my classes and be able to finish school in the four years it takes to receive a Bachelor’s degree. My goals are to become a kindergarten teacher at some point and then get married. I also hope to eventually receive my Master’s degree after I have found a secure job.
